Local Beekeepers in Kingsmead Cheshire

Another week, another Honey Show

This time it was the local Mid Cheshire Beekeepers Annual Honey Show on Monday evening (4th November) at Toolerstone.

We entered 17 classes and am pleased to say that we managed to come away with a number of first, second or third prizes in Honey, wax and mead but our confectionary, even though it tastes delicious, failed to make the top three.  We still managed to win the most points

It was good to hear some positive comments from the National Honey judge in that both our wax and mead would be good enough to be entered ( and maybe win) the national show, so that leaves us with food ( or drink) to consider! That is the showing season over for this year, so things can be packed away and tidied, ready for June next year.

Meanwhile, I spent the weekend, jarring a new product for us – soft set honey.  I have to say it tastes as good as it looks.

Anyone looking for honey or candles, feel free to knock at our door at 1 Coronet Avenue, CW9 8FX.

Honey Show Success

We recently took part in the yearly Cheshire Beekeepers Honey Show, where all Cheshire beekeepers can enter their honey and wax products ( and other classes) to be judged.

We entered many classes including various honeys, wax blocks and candles, photographs, mead and some confectionary. We had a rather successful day winning the Best Wax, Best Candle, Best Mead and to top it all the Best in Show for our candles.

The added bonus was that Mid Cheshire Branch retained the County Trophy.

This Monday (4th November 2024) we will be at our local branch show, which is being held at Toolrerstones (Creative Workshops & Craft Courses Cheshire | Toolerstone). Everyone is free to come and watch as John Goodwin will be doing open judging.
